Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Games Association (SCOGA), Clementi Community Centre (Friends of Clementi) and Clementi Youth Executive Committee (YEC) is proud to bring you, Clementi Game Festival 2. This is the second installment of the games festival that was held last year on 24th April 2012. This year, Clementi Game Fest 2, will be held over two days, on the 9th and 10th June 2012. Additionally, Clementi Game Festival 2 will also play host to South East Asia Major 2012: Road to EVO Singapore,  the largest and longest-running fighting game tournament in the world.

South East Asia Major 2012: Road to EVO Singapore is fully sanctioned and is open to international competitors to fly into Singapore to compete and acquire EVO points for their overall ranking.

This is also the first major event held in Clementi Community Centre since its major renovation overhaul. Clementi Games Fest and EVO participants will get to enjoy their favourite games in the comfort of the centre’s new fully air-conditioned multi-purpose hall. South East Asia Major 2012: Road to EVO Singapore will feature Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, King of Fighters XIII, Street Fighters X Tekken, Soul Calibur V with a side competition for the FIFA 12.

There will be carnival activities for the enjoyment of all ages and is expected to attract participants of all ages in fun family time.

SINGAPORE, 12th March 2012 – Singapore will host South East Asia Major 2012: Road to EVO Singapore. As the largest and longest-running fighting game tournament in the world, EVO attracts the best players from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun, as players and fans gather to honor the competitive spirit in an open format to determine a champion. The event will be held on 9th to 10th June 2012 @ the Clementi Community Centre in conjunction with Clementi Game Fest 2012, as part of a partnership between Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Games Association (SCOGA), Clementi Community Centre (Friends of Clementi), Clementi Youth Executive Committee (YEC).

Singapore-China Game Box Qualifier

The qualifying rounds for the inaugural Singapore-China Game Box Championship 2011, jointly organised by Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) and China Information Broadcast Network (CIBN), is on-going right now in Wuhan, China.

Representatives from SCOGA is on-location to soak up the competitive atmosphere. The Singapore-China Game Box Qualifiers, attracted some 514 Chinese gamers competing for 4 slots to represent China in the grand finals in Singapore. The 4 winners will pitch their skills against Singaporean champions. The 4 winners who win gets air ticket and hotel, and a trip to Universal Studios Singapore. The prize giving ceremony will be held tomorrow morning 11am.

The grand finals in Singapore will be held from 2nd to 4th December 2011 at Funan Digitalife Mall.

Singapore Will Be Represented at ESWC 2011 Grand Finals, France

SINGAPORE, October 20, 2011 – Singapore’s Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) will be partially funding Tan ‘kim07′ Kim Leong to represent Singapore in the ESWC 2011 Grand Finals in France.

The Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) is a worldwide competition of video games, starting locally with national qualifying, to end with a World Final gathering all the cyberathletes and designed as a live show.

Tan ‘kim07′ Kim Leong is a local FIFA11 player and hold many titles under his belt. He was invited to France for ESWC.

In line with SCOGA’s mission to make Singapore a global leader in gaming and eSports through positive engagements with local gaming, SCOGA decided to partially fund Tan ‘kim07′ Kim Leong to ESWC. This underlines SCOGA’s commitment to our mission.

SCOGA is always on the lookout for international opportunities for Singaporean gamers to represent the country, and will have more exciting announcements lined up in the near future.

Singapore Game Box Reach Out to China

Singapore Game BoxIn a landmark announcement yesterday, SCOGA partnered with Media Development Authority (MDA) and China Information Broadcast Network (CIBN) to introduced Singapore made casual games into the Chinese market. This will be done through Singapore Game Box Chinese Portal.

MDA hopes to get 100,000 registrations during its launch, with the eventual target of 60 million registered users of CIBN, one of China’s most established broadband entertainment and digital services based in Beijing.

Singapore Game Box was launched in 2009 to accelerate the commercialisation of Made-In-Singapore games by providing a mass of gamers as a feedback mechanism.

For the partnership, four games will be featured first. The four games are Rocketbirds: Revolution!, Straw Hat Samurai: Duels, Fish-a-Fish and Tactics Anthem Online II, developed by Singapore games companies Ratloop Asia, Explosive Barrels, Activate Interactive and iCell Pte Ltd respectively. Singapore Will Be Represented at EVO Street Fighter 4 World Finals USA

SINGAPORE, July 18, 2011 – Singapore’s Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) will be sponsoring an air ticket for Eng Ghim Kee (Gackt) to represent Singapore in the EVO Finals in USA. SCOGA will also be covering lodging expenses for two other Singaporeans, Leslie Cheong (Sagat) and Kun-Xian Ho (Xian). In total, three persons will represent Singapore in the EVO World Finals, which will be held at Rio Las Vegas, from 29th to 31st July 2011.

EVO World Finals is the concluding event for this year’s Evolution Championship Series (EVO for short). EVO represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournament in the world. EVO events attract the best players from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun, as players and fans gather to honour the competitive spirit in an open format to determine a champion.

On 24th April 2011, Clementi Game Festival 2011 was held, as part of a partnership between SCOGA, Clementi New Media Champions (Friends of Clementi), People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) and SGFighter (a local Street Fighter 4 community).

The EVO Singapore Street Fighter 4 qualifiers were conducted at Clementi Game Festival 2011, with the prize being a trip to Las Vegas for the EVO World Finals. Eng Ghim Kee (Gackt) triumphed in the final match-up, winning the prize of a sponsored flight to the EVO World Finals.

In line with SCOGA’s mission to make Singapore a global leader in gaming and eSports through positive engagements with local gaming, SCOGA decided to sponsor the three gamers to the EVO World Finals. This underlines SCOGA’s commitment to our mission.

StarHub Smart Security Carnival

Senior Minister of State for Information, Communications and the Arts & The Environment and Water Resources, Ms Grace Fu, officially launched the opening of the StarHub Smart Security Carnival at the National Library Building. The carnival is set to run from 15th to 17th July 2011. As posted on our previous update, there will also be a free cyber wellness workshop, aimed at parents, to understand how their young ones use the Internet. StarHub announced the Smart Security Solutions campaign, an activity which is targeted at broadband and mobile users in Singapore. Part of the campaign is also the promotion of the message of cyber wellness and Internet safety. A new Internet security service called SafeShield which provides the family with protection against common web-based threats. StarHub also announced Singapore’s first network-based mobile Internet content filtering service, offering it free to customers until June 2012. It enables parents to block undesirable categories pf content such as adult content as well as specific websites on the mobile phone used by the child.
