PRESS RELEASE
More than S$50,000 will be up for grabs at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre this December

SINGAPORE – 19th November 2014 – The first-ever grand finals of Southeast Asia’s most lucrative DOTA 2 tournament, the ok.-DOTA 2 Cup, will be the highlight of Singapore’s premier gaming convention, Good Game 2014 (GG2014). Apart from the DOTA 2 tournament, the convention will host a variety of gaming-related activities and will take place on 26-28th December 2014 at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Organized by Evangel eSports Pte Ltd, GG2014 aims to cultivate the competitive spirit of cyber-gamers in Singapore, providing a platform for Singaporeans to pit their skills against top DOTA 2 teams in Southeast Asia, and at the same time, create a cohesive local gaming community. Evangel hopes to turn the convention into a yearly affair for gamers to end the year in an unforgettable fashion. “We want electronic sports to bring together gamers from all walks from life and transform Singapore into the eSports hub of Southeast Asia,” said Dr Chow Yuen Ho, director of Evangel eSports.

To ensure that GG2014 caters specifically to gamers, Evangel eSports has engaged Tammy “furryfish” Tang to oversee the management of the event. Miss Tang brings to the table 8 years of experience of working in the gaming industry, which includes organizing successful gaming tournaments. Eight teams will be competing for a total prize pool of SGD$50,000 in the ok.- DOTA 2 Cup — an amount unprecedented in the region. The tournament will also have a crowd-funding component, potentially increasing the total prize money for all the teams.

Generously sponsored by ok.- SIngapore Pte Ltd, the sole and exclusive distributor of the ok.- energy drinks in Singapore, the ok.- energy drink is a refreshing beverage designed in Switzerland and recently launched in the island state. “We are proud to be the main sponsor for the ok.-DOTA 2 Cup here in Singapore. The potential of Southeast Asia players are yet untapped and our sponsorship will help bring out and showcase the talents of the region’s best players,” said Jordan Cheang, director of ok.- Singapore Pte Ltd. Suntec Singapore will come on board as the strategic partner for GG2014. Situated in the Central Business District, Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre is a world-renowned event venue equipped with cutting-edge technology and is the venue of choice for a DOTA 2 tournament that will involve the top teams from the Southeast Asia region. “DOTA 2 tournaments worldwide have seen great attendance numbers and our great central location combined with our facilities will showcase to the world that Singapore is a great place to hold important e-sports tournaments,” said Marc Bakker, Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications of Suntec Singapore.

The grand finals of the ok.- DOTA 2 Cup will involve 8 teams vying for the top prize in a double elimination format.
