Singapore Active Gaming at Marinabay

SAUCEink is proud to introduce Singapore Active Gaming (SAG), which will take place as part of ActiveSG’s Active Enabler Programme on August 6th, at The Promontory at Marina Bay. There will be 2 categories of participants – competitive and casual.

Kelvin Tan, President and Co-Founder of Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) said, “SCOGA is proud to support the Singapore Active Gaming initiative as we see the value in connecting online to offline activities. Not only does it encourage gamers to get physically active, it also serves as an environment for families and friends to bond over video games.”

SAUCEink wants to change the perception of “gaming”, where the stereotype is of a geek sitting in front of the monitor and typing away on the keyboard while clicking the mouse, or where the participant merely presses buttons with both hands while holding onto a console control.

Singapore Active Gaming is also supported by XBOX, which has kindly sponsored the consoles to be used during the event. “The Kinect Sports Rivals (Climbing) isn’t just a console game, it is a serious work out,” Sabrina Wang, CEO and Founder of SAUCEink said. “It’s exercise packaged in a game format that is fun, without the risk or fear of falling, or having to go to special places with rock climbing walls in Singapore,” she added.

This was affirmed by Tiara Hadi, Miss Earth Singapore 2016, who went against a professional gamer from Insidious Gaming (iSG), in a mini competition during our media event held on July 28th. She said, “It was really quite tiring and I had to jump several times but it was really fun! Especially when I won against a professional gamer!” It only goes to show that even professional gamers are not at an advantage when it comes to virtual sports and he was also surprised at how physical the game was for him.

Nevertheless, SAUCEink started as a style magazine. Thus, it will go back to its ‘roots’ and further spice up the event by adding a special fashion twist to it. With Pokémon Go trending and National Day celebrations onsite, SAUCEink is working together with Fashion Stylist Director, Vrinda L Seth, and have combined these 2 topics together to give you the SAG Fashion Show 2016.
