Read! Singapore Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony of Read! Singapore was held on 30th August 2010 at the Conrad Centennial, and saw many book clubs and partners of the National Library Board gathering to close a successful year of reading.

SCOGA was among those invited to the delightful ceremony, which guest-of-honour MP Seng Han Thong said could not match up to the Youth Olympic Games closing ceremony in terms of budget, but definitely equaled them in passion. Dr N Varaprasad, CEO of the NLB, also gave a speech to round up the year.

SCOGA has worked on several projects with NLB. The first was our Game2Read event, which encouraged reading through games and sports. The second was GTR Hour, which was streamed live on the Read It! portal. And finally, there was the Game 2 Read book club, which will hold its second session soon! As a result of all this, we received two awards from NLB.

Guests of the closing ceremony were also treated to a high energy dance by students from the ITE College East. We then had a to-die-for buffet that almost, but didn’t quite, overshade the ceremony ๐Ÿ˜€
Here’s to an even better campaign next year!
